Dear Caroline.....

I hope you can forgive me for not breast-feeding you.
But I am a much happier, and probably a much better mom because of it.

And you seem to be doing just fine.

I'm trying not to feel too guilty about it.  And I make sure to hold you close while I'm feeding you your bottles so we can bond and all that.

But honestly, I really just hate the whole nursing thing. It's painful for me, and stresses me out, and doesn't even help me lose weight, and with you being my sixth baby, I'm DONE with bleeding nipples & mastitis.  And frankly, I feel enough like a heifer, without the big lactating tats.  I hope you can understand.

Besides, I'm not totally sold on its magical health benefits. Most of my siblings were not breastfed. Daddy wasn't breastfed.  And they turned out OK.  And your brother (Max) who was breastfed 4 times longer than the others is the one with all the eczema & asthma & peanut allergies.  I'm just saying.

It's been so great having all these older kids to help out with feeding you.  And they like feeling helpful.  And big sis Mars is like your back-up Mommy.  In fact, I sometimes wonder if you get us mixed up.

Some say "breast is best", but right now I'm saying "bottles are the bomb".  They've made for a delightful newborn-hood for all of us.  And like I said before, you seem to be doing just fine.

I love you,

Mom

Awesome post! I feel exactly the same way. My next will be bottle fed. I tried breast feeding w/my daughter and she cried all the time., come to find out I wasn't producing enough milk. So in other words I was starving her. Not putting myself thru that again...
Sorry for telling you my whole life story..lol

She is too cute...and your daughter does seem like a little mama to her. How nice that must be. What a lovely family you have. :)

I say you're the bomb. :)

I happen to love breastfeeding. It's always come easily and without pain. But, I'm a little jealous because I would like to lose some weight and I never lose it until I finish nursing. Plus, my milk is drying up and Charlotte is starving, but will not take a bottle. So, sleepless nights for the both of us.

However, I do love the new cupsize that comes with the nursing. It's awesome for us gals who always dreamed of a little something something up there.

I go back and forth on this one. I am pro breastfeeding myself (I hope I didn't make you uncomfortable the other night at the ice rink). It works for some and doesn't work for others. Baby knows it too. I was so stressed out with one of them that it just wasn't going to work. I bottle fed her and she is just fine. It just worked with the others and for me so I do it. I do wish I could have some help sometimes, like in the middle of the night, and I'd like to go on a date longer than 3 hours one of these days. Pros and Cons. Don't beat yourself up over it, you are a good mama.

Bryton was breastfed the longest of my babies and he's the only one that ended up with asthma. Lyndee is the only that didn't get breastfed and she has been my healthiest by FAR!

I'm with you. Bottles are the Bomb.

And I still need to come hold that darling little chub!

I'm going to eat her Nicole! She has rolls like Gold and they are my favorite.
I have never breastfed any of my girls and they turned out just fine. Nothing to feel guilty about.

Hi! Just found your blog....love it! You have some totally awesome pictures and are quite talented!

Just wanted to let you know that although my baby is now in kindergarten and soon to be 6 (this makes me sad to think he's my baby) I felt the same way you did/do! He was the only one I tried breastfeeding (I had 2 daughters previously) because I wanted to say I tried it in case I didn't have any more kids....anyways, I had so much soreness so they told me to pull of the one side and then he started losing weight and so they said I wasn't producing enough, all the while I was stressing about the other kids, etc. Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I so know what you are talking about and think that you are an AWESOME mom!!
